About us
NCHTV is a Chinese-language news network for readers worldwide. We report the world in Chinese and in English: breaking news, international affairs, business and industry, sport, film and television, health and daily life.
What we do
The newsroom runs around the clock across twelve sections. We organise the site the way a daily paper organises a page: the front page carries the day’s most important story, section pages give the fuller picture, and topic pages pull the same subject together across sections. Alongside breaking news we produce investigations, data journalism, interviews and filmed reporting.
We think readers want fewer stories worth their time rather than more stories in general — so everything that reaches the front page has been chosen over something else.
Language versions
The site exists in Chinese and English, story for story. The language button at the top of every page takes you to the same page in the other language, not back to the home page.
Editorial independence
- We take no sponsorship that affects editorial content, and there is no advertising on the site.
- Factual errors are corrected prominently in the original article, with the time of correction noted.
- Where a story touches an interested party, the relationship is disclosed in the text.
Where we are now
The site is in trial operation. The stories currently published are newsroom drafts written to build out the pages: the people, organisations, quotations and figures in them are composed, should not be cited as reported fact, and refer to no real individual or organisation. This section will be removed once the editorial process is live.
Photographs come from freely licensed material on Wikimedia Commons. They do not depict the events described and are used for page layout only; sources and licences are listed on the picture credits page.
Relationship to other outlets
This site has no affiliation, partnership or licensing arrangement with any similarly named or similar media organisation.
