Ahead of the new season, several stadiums hosting professional football completed security and evacuation upgrades. The central measure is evacuation time: clearing a full house within eight minutes.

Most grounds widened their main evacuation routes and redrew the flow plan at stand exits. Zoned ticketing and identity verification have been introduced at entry.

Two sides for supporters

For spectators the changes cut both ways. Entry is generally quicker, but seat allocations are enforced more strictly; some grounds have restored free movement between stands, making it easier to move at half-time.
